WHAT IS FIBRE BROADBAND?
Fibre broadband uses underground fibre optic cables, which has the capability to send data very close to the speed of light. This allows larger amounts of data to travel further and faster than traditional copper cables. These higher speeds expand the bandwidth for intensive applications such as Ultra High Definition TV and video conferencing which improves the quality for multiple users.

Factors that may influence your broadband speed include the device you are using and its capabilities, your operating system and web-browser, if you’re connecting wirelessly to your router, and the number of devices connecting via WiFi. Speeds shown are the Industry National Peak Time Average Speeds (MBNZ Spring 2024). You may experience a higher or lower speed than this.

What is an eero?
An eero device is a router that offers improved performance, speed and range in device-dense networks where networks may have a lot of traffic. You can have up to 3 routers located at various places around your home. This creates a Mesh Wifi network. Go to the Total Home Wifi page for more information.
Can I Bring My Own Device (router)?
You are able to use your own router, however we can not provide full support for devices not supplied by Mercury. Details on how to configure your third party router are available here.
Please note: If you are using a router not supplied by Mercury, you may not achieve the broadband speeds indicated for your broadband type.
